Our Caregiving Team
As a nonprofit community, our mission has always centered on people first. Our team is committed to leading with understanding and compassion, focusing on the individual rather than simply the challenges they may face. While each resident has unique needs, we believe that treating every woman with dignity, respect, and kindness is often the most meaningful form of care. It is this commitment to service, connection, and heartfelt support that continues to set our nonprofit community apart.
At the heart of our community is a commitment to personalized care that honors each woman’s individual preferences, routines, and needs. We believe every lady has a unique story, and taking the time to understand each chapter of her life allows us to provide care with greater compassion, dignity, and purpose. Building meaningful relationships and celebrating individuality are among the greatest rewards for what we do.
As a nonprofit assisted living community dedicated exclusively to women, we are proud to provide elegant living paired with highly personalized care. With one of the lowest resident-to-staff ratios in Central Virginia, our team is able to offer attentive support that reflects the dignity, comfort, and individuality every woman deserves.
A licensed nurse is available 24 hours a day to assist residents and respond promptly to any medical needs or emergencies. Our compassionate certified nursing aides provide thoughtful, personalized attention while creating an atmosphere that feels warm, comforting, and welcoming. Within Magnolia Hall, our specialized memory care neighborhood, enhanced staffing allows for even more individualized support and meaningful connection for each resident.
Our caregiving team works closely with physicians, geriatric specialists, therapists, podiatrists, pharmacies, and trusted healthcare partners to ensure residents receive comprehensive, coordinated care. Medical appointments, medication management, therapy services, and equipment support are carefully overseen to make daily life as seamless and comfortable as possible.
Should a resident become ill, our nursing team promptly evaluates her needs and communicates directly with physicians and family members when appropriate. Emergency services are immediately contacted whenever necessary, providing families with added peace of mind.
Petersburg Home for Ladies is guided by an all-female volunteer Board of Directors whose mission is centered on preserving the traditions, routines, and personal preferences of the women who call our community home. Their leadership reflects our longstanding nonprofit commitment to compassionate service and resident-focused care.
Every aspect of care is delivered with patience, respect, and a commitment to preserving each woman’s comfort and quality of life.

Gracious living has long been the hallmark of the Petersburg Home for Ladies. As a nonprofit community devoted exclusively to women, we take pride in creating an environment that blends elegance, comfort, and exceptional personalized care.
Our dedicated housekeeping and laundry teams provide weekly housekeeping, linen, and complimentary personal laundry services. Available seven days a week, these team members help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness while ensuring each resident feels confident and cared for every day.
Dining at the Petersburg Home for Ladies is both comforting and refined. Guided by a Registered Dietitian, our culinary team prepares three nutritious, home-cooked meals daily, served in our elegant dining room. Residents may also enjoy outdoor dining in our peaceful interior courtyard, where family and friends can gather beside the soothing sounds of our beautiful fountain.
Our Recreation Specialists thoughtfully plan engaging programs and activities tailored to the interests and abilities of all residents. Group exercise classes promote strength, balance, and overall wellness, while specialized programming in Magnolia Hall supports the unique cognitive needs of residents within our memory care.
Life within our community is vibrant and enriching. Residents often gather in our sunny Garden Room for conversation, refreshments, and relaxation while overlooking the winding pathway and natural beauty of our Memorial Garden. Each month, residents receive a full calendar of events featuring social gatherings, religious services, live entertainment, exercise programs, educational opportunities, and local outings designed to nurture social, cultural, spiritual, intellectual, and physical well-being.
Our outdoor living spaces encourage both relaxation and discovery. Seasonal shade coverings, tranquil water features, raised herb and flower gardens, and native pollinator landscapes provide opportunities for gardening, reflection, and enjoying nature. Residents may participate in butterfly conservation efforts through Project Monarch Watch or simply unwind beneath the canopy of mature oak and holly trees.
Residents may also enjoy the convenience of our on-site beauty salon, where hair styling, permanents, and grooming services are available for a reasonable fee, along with weekly nail care services.

What Our Clients Say
See what our residents and their families have to say…
I came because my mother was here years ago and I became a volunteer. I have been in many other places and there is no other place as nice as this. I have not been disappointed.
It’s wonderful here! Best place to be! The staff is remarkable! The activities department is great! You feel good when you step into the door.
