WTVR Reports: Petersburg Assisted Living Facility’s Century-Long Commitment to Women of All Ages

The Petersburg Home for Ladies, founded nearly a century ago by a group of women, remains a unique and cherished institution dedicated to providing assisted living exclusively for elderly women. Administrator Jessica Hancock emphasizes its distinction as the only nonprofit facility of its kind, marking 99 years of continuous operation. The home’s environment, tailored exclusively for women, fosters comfort and a sense of elegance among its residents. Betty Jones Ridout, a longtime resident, finds special significance in being able to see her childhood home from her room. The home’s staff, including young women like Olivia Harrison, who began her career there in high school and now studies nursing at Clemson University, are integral to its mission.
